Sencha Yamato 50g

Sencha Yamato is grown in the mountains of the Yamato Highlands in Nara, where the tea plants are cultivated without the use of pesticides or fertilisers.

As spring moves through the mountains and the wisteria begins to bloom, the tea fields fill with bright new shoots. These young leaves are harvested and carefully rolled using the steamed green tea methods long practised in Yamato.

Rather than pursuing an intensely umami-forward style, this tea offers a natural balance of refreshing green aroma, gentle sweetness, pleasant astringency and a quiet depth that lingers in the throat.

Its flavour is clean, lively and subtly rustic, reflecting the mountain landscape where it was grown. It is an honest and expressive sencha—light enough to enjoy every day, yet with enough character and depth to invite another cup.

The Yamato Highlands, Nara

The Yamato Highlands lie in the mountainous area east of the Nara Basin. Surrounded by forests and satoyama landscapes, tea has long been shaped here by the changing seasons and the character of the land.

Sencha Yamato carries that landscape into the cup: fresh, gently sweet, pleasantly astringent and quietly wild.
